About Tempe Airport, Sky Harbor
The Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix, Arizona is close to Tempe. This is one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States, especially in the winter when many people from colder climates visit the Phoenix metro area to enjoy the warmer temperatures. The airport consists of three active terminals and passengers can use the frequent shuttle buses to move between them.
Parking lots surround the airport and passengers can use shuttles to reach the terminals. The Tempe Airport, Sky Harbour PHX offers many choices for dining inside the terminals. The airport also has many gift shops that carry convenience items and authentic southwestern products.
The Sky Harbor Airport started operations in 1935 and major and minor air carriers service passengers and cargo from this location. Approximately 1,500 aircraft use this airport daily and Sky Harbor is among the 15th busiest in the world. Tempe is located just southeast of the airport, the home of Arizona State University.
Plenty of hotels and restaurants are located close to the airport in central Phoenix and Tempe. Upscale shopping is close at the Biltmore Fashion Park, and golfers can play at the Arizona Biltmore Country Club all year long. The Biltmore Hotel is a Phoenix landmark, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Besides luxurious lodging, the Biltmore Hotel has casual and upscale restaurants open to the public.
